The Writ Drop is your weekly round-up of everything you might have missed in political and election news, federal, provincial and municipal polling.

🎃Happy Halloween!🎃

Here’s what you might have missed from me over the last week:

THE WRIT

  • It was B.C. election day last Saturday, so after setting up the night I then took a look at the results on Sunday. You can read that last analysis here. Since that was written, the NDP has moved ahead in the riding of Ladysmith-Oceanside, making the current count 63 seats for the Conservatives, 28 for the NDP and 2 for the Greens.

  • The Federal Vote and Seat Projections were updated with new polling by Liaison Strategies, Nanos Research and Abacus Data. Not much has shifted. The current vote projection is 47.4% for the Liberals, 31.7% for the Conservatives and 10.7% for the NDP.

THE NUMBERS PODCAST

  • The Numbers: Eby made a huge mistake - David Eby’s B.C. New Democrats went down to defeat on Saturday, as Lorne Doerkson and the B.C. Conservatives took advantage of Eby’s early call to win in a (by B.C. standards) landslide. The polls were predicting this would be the result. But were there any surprises — or lessons to be learned? This week on The Numbers, we break down the results of British Columbia’s provincial election. We also discuss what went down in the Toronto municipal vote and dissect the latest federal polls that continue to show Mark Carney’s Liberals dominating. Plus, we have a new poll out of Saskatchewan that looks a little different from the one published last week. We then close with an (very extended!) mailbag segment for our members. WATCH OR LISTEN HERE

Now let’s take a look at some of the latest developments and new polls that I didn’t get a chance to get to this past week.
