Welcome to the Weekly Writ, a round-up of the latest federal and provincial polls, election news and political history that lands in your inbox every Wednesday morning.

The Weekly Writ is a long one today, so let’s get right to it with a minimum of preamble.

First, I assess the first polls post-Poilievre leadership victory and determine whether or not the Conservative chief is giving his party a bump.

Then, I break down the polls out of Quebec that suggest something, even if it isn’t much, might be happening. I also profile two ridings in Quebec that will be worth keeping an eye on.

If you missed it, Phillipe J. Fournier was back earlier this week to chat about last week’s Quebec debate. Listen here (subscribers only).

I also mark a milestone for the prime minister, take a peek at the municipal race in the nation’s capital and tell the story of an epic federal election that changed the course of Canadian history — and ended Wilfrid Laurier’s reign.
