The Weekly Writ for Oct. 26
Ontario and Manitoba vote; Danielle Smith trails Rachel Notley; and the rise of Richard Hatfield.
Welcome to the Weekly Writ, a round-up of the latest federal and provincial polls, election news and political history that lands in your inbox every Wednesday morning.
It wouldn’t be the end of October without someone, somewhere casting a ballot, so we start this edition of the Weekly Writ with a dive into the results of Ontario’s municipal elections, where being an incumbent was a good thing, and today’s mayoral vote in Winnipeg, where there is no incumbent on the ballot.
I also have a short update on the B.C. NDP leadership race and a peek at a couple of polls.
The riding of the week is one that could prove to be the tipping point in Alberta’s provincial election, while the next milestone on the horizon is one for Nova Scotia’s premier, Tim Houston. Finally, the #EveryElectionProject rolls on as we cast back to the 1970 election in New Brunswick.
